Like our last trip which was in our old haunts of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cardiffbythesea.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cardiff-by-the-Sea<\/a>, we decided to stay in downtown San Diego. Specifically, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westgatehotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Westgate Hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did we stay in a hotel in a town we&#8217;ve effectively lived in our whole lives, we then proceded to do many of the standard &#8220;touristy&#8221; things common for the area:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oldtownsandiego.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Historic Old Town<\/a><\/li>\n<li>We walked around <a href=\"http:\/\/westfield.com\/hortonplaza\/\" target=\"_blank\">Horton Plaza<\/a><\/li>\n<li>We had drinks at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.starwoodhotels.com\/whotels\/search\/restaurants_lounges.html?siteLoc=RESTS3&amp;propertyID=1433&amp;flashContent=nonflash\" target=\"_blank\">Beach bar<\/a> at the W Hotel (interesting, but the hotel is pretty pretentious)<\/li>\n<li>Walked on the beach (Silver Strand)<\/li>\n<li>Saw Amadeus at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lambsplayers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lamb&#8217;s Players Theatre<\/a> in Coronado (really well done and  David Cochran Heath gave a stellar performance as Salieri)<\/li>\n<li>Had breakfast at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livingroomcafe.com\" target=\"_blank\">The Living Room<\/a> (SDSU location)<\/li>\n<li>Walked around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.belmontpark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Belmont Park<\/a> and had lunch at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canesbarandgrill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canes<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Went to a house party hosted by my manager<\/li>\n<li>Enjoyed a pedicab trour of downtown<\/li>\n<li>Walked on the beach (Cardiff-by-the-Sea)<\/li>\n<li>Had lunch at our favorite <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasolasmex.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mexican restauraunt<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It really was an enjoyable time and the best part, of course, was that I spent it with my wife.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Becky and I went away this past weekend though we didn&#8217;t go far.
