{"id":273,"date":"2008-08-13T19:31:38","date_gmt":"2008-08-14T03:31:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/?p=273"},"modified":"2008-08-13T19:31:38","modified_gmt":"2008-08-14T03:31:38","slug":"what-a-wet-wild-and-fun-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/archives\/273","title":{"rendered":"What a wet, wild, and fun week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was fortunate to take a week off last week and was able to enjoy a vacation &#8220;around home&#8221; with the family.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/img_0513.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-274\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"Tubes\" src=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/img_0513.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><strong>Tuesday<\/strong> &#8211; Toobin&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Just about an hour South-East of our home is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lajollaindians.com\" target=\"_blank\">La Jolla Indian<\/a> reservation. $15 dollars for the car for the day and $10 each for an inner tube (if you didn&#8217;t bring your own) and we had a fun time going down the San Luis Rey River.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll have to go back for a whole day sometime. The water could have been a bit deeper (don&#8217;t forget to &#8220;butt up&#8221;) but it depends on how much they choose to let go from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.golakehavasu.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lake Havasu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dsc06709.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-275\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"Floatin\\'\" src=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dsc06709.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><strong>Wednesday<\/strong> &#8211; The Wave<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kaelyn.peay.us\/blog\" target=\"_blank\">Kaelyn<\/a> went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewavewaterpark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Wave Waterpark<\/a> in Vista during her last week of 5th grade and practically insisted that we all go. Unfortunately, I got sunburned but spending about 6 hours in the sun is hard to protect against.<\/p>\n<p>A lazy river, competition size pool, and four water slides gave plenty of options.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dsc06728.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-276\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"Waverunnin\\'\" src=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dsc06728.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><strong>Thursday<\/strong> &#8211; Mission Bay<\/p>\n<p>One of our vendors at work treated us to an afternoon at Mission Bay a few weeks ago and I had the opportunity to ride a waverunner for the first time. Going 50 mph on the water is quite thrilling.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to share the experience with the kids. Didn&#8217;t go nearly as fast but still had a fun time. We took a little spill trying to turn around which dumped all three of us in the water, but it was more fun than anything else.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dsc06758.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-277\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"dsc06758\" src=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/dsc06758.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"150\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><strong>Friday<\/strong> &#8211; Cabrillo Tide Pools<\/p>\n<p>We drove down to San Diego (picking up <a href=\"http:\/\/becky.peay.us\/blog\">Becky<\/a>&#8216;s mom on the way) and went to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/cabr\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cabrillo National Monument<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Walking around the tide pools, we saw plenty of other folks and various forms of waterlife.<\/p>\n<p>I miss being around the ocean. I grew up in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.encinitas.ca.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Encinitas<\/a> and spent much of my summers being a beach bum.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/img_0535.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-278\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"Picnic\" src=\"http:\/\/mike.peay.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/img_0535.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><strong>Saturday<\/strong> &#8211; Company Picnic<\/p>\n<p>My work does a summer picnic every year. This one was in Poway (so was last year&#8217;s but we missed it) and unfortunately, was lightly attended and as a result was kinda booring.<\/p>\n<p>The company events are getting more awkward as the company grows. More and more people I don&#8217;t recognize.<\/p>\n<p>It was a good week. Can&#8217;t wait to do it again sometime.
